Any company that uses Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) needs to know what their management and legal responsibilities are when it comes to allowing employees to operate MEWPs. At Boss training, we specialise in safety training services and offer IPAF MEWPs for managers training.
Under UK health and safety legislation, specifically the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Work at Height Regulations 2005, employers are required to provide working at height training to all employees who plan, supervise and manage work at height and the use of any equipment for such work.
This course is designed for employers, project managers, foremen and supervisors who work in a broad range of industries, such as construction, facilities management, retail, airports and arboriculture. If you are responsible for planning and overseeing the use of MEWPs on your job site, then you will need to attend this course.
This course places particular emphasis on training delegates in the planning, supervision and management of the use of MEWPs by employees, including conducting risk assessments. There is also an in-depth session on the regulations and current legislation surrounding the use of powered access machines. The course includes a section which enhances delegates understanding of the different types of MEWPs, you can read more about this on our IPAF Machine Categories page. The course does not cover how to operate MEWPs; this is included in the IPAF Training Course.
