Undertaking an online course involves almost as much preparation as a classroom course does. You still need to take notes and study, which can be time-consuming. Here at Boss Training, we have a range of online safety training courses that you can choose from and, once your course is selected, you can prepare with these useful tips:

Set Your Goals

With any course, setting your goals in a realistic way will ensure that you complete your course within an accurate timeframe. Know how many hours a week you can dedicate to studying and make sure to take them into account when you’re thinking about an online course. You should also consider how many courses you wish to undertake and if you can study for all of them during the time you have available.

Get Organised

Getting organised is always important when you’re studying. You can purchase a planner, a calendar, or install an app on your phone; find something that works for you and helps you to keep all information you need about your online course and stick with it. From small, medium, or large sizes, planners come in all shapes and forms. Choose a daily or weekly planner – or even both – so that you can keep organised to the hour.

If a physical planner isn’t the most practical for you, you can always have an app on your phone or download a schedule organiser on your computer. But make sure to use it – it’s easy to buy an organiser but, if you don’t use it, then you might find yourself becoming disorganised quickly. Don’t forget other supplies such as notebooks and stationery to make sure that you can quickly take notes, should you need to.

Schedule Study Time

Having time scheduled for studying is vital; you should set aside time regularly to make yourself sit down and study. Having a clear study plan helps you feel organised and develop an understanding of your course. With regular study sessions, you also have the benefit of not feeling too stressed – leaving all of your studying to last day may seem doable, but you are likely to panic and not study.

Accumulating course work often causes you to have to stay up late into the night, even when you’re tired, to try to complete all of your work. With regular study hours, however, your work will be done on time and your concentration levels and your sense of discipline will remain high.

Identify What You Struggle With

Knowing what you might struggle with before you start the course will help you to be more productive. You might struggle with how different online learning is to classroom learning, and addressing these issues before taking on a course will guarantee your success with your online course. Whether you struggle without the physical presence of a teacher or without human interaction, you need to consider how you are going to overcome these struggles.

We’d suggest it may be beneficial to add in more study time to your schedule, or you could use a study partner; regardless of what your struggle with or what worries you, attempt to address them as soon as you can.
